Marbella Beaches and the Golden Mile

The Marbella coastline is legendary and offers an outstanding selection of beaches, stretching for over 25 km / 16 miles along the famous Costa del Sol. Many of the best beaches are close to central Marbella, lined with a boardwalk which is known locally as the Paseo Maritimo.

The Golden Mile is home to some of the city's most popular beachfronts, starting on the western side of Marbella and continuing right up to the Puerto Banus harbour, being well-developed and lined with hotels, villas, shops and villas. Most local beaches generally offer excellent facilities, which include lifeguards, showers, public toilets and refreshments, together with an array of water sports.


Pinillo Beach (Playa El Pinillo)

Popular with locals, Pinillo Beach (Playa El Pinillo) is one of the area's most quiet and undiscovered spots. With golden sand which stretches for around a mile, Pinillo is known for being clean and suitable for bathing, with a range of amenities nearby. Pinillo Beach lies on the Elviria side of Marbella, with residential areas and hotels nearby.

Fontanilla Beach (Playa de la Fontanilla)

One of Marbella's premier beachfronts, Fontanilla is well-maintained and often busy. Facilities here are good, including bars, chairs and umbrellas, lifeguards and a nearby marina. Fontanilla Beach is known for its extremely dark and unusual sand.

Guadalmina Beach (Playa de Guadalmina)

Offering an extensive selection of water sports, including both surfing and windsurfing, Guadalmina Beach is close to the historic San Pedro area. Nearby bars offer the perfect way to end your day here.

Nagüeles Beach (Playa de Nagüeles)

Without doubt one of the best beaches in the Marbella area, Nagüeles is lined by the Paseo Maritimo boardwalk, with a number of nearby hotels and clubs. Pedalos are available for hire, while many keen surfers favour this location.

Port Banus New Andalucia Beach (Playa de Puerto Banus Nueva Andalucia)

Standing next to the José Banus Port, this appealing spot offers a long stretch of fine white sand, attracting large crowds during the sunny summer months. The beach is extremely family orientated and contains a number of child-friendly activities and bathing opportunities.

Bajadilla Beach (Playa de la Bajadilla)

A particularly stunning expanse of dark sand, Bajadilla Beach is located alongside the bustling fishing port and has much to offer sun lovers. Attractions at the Playa de la Bajadilla include deck chairs, nearby bars, bathing and endless parasols.

With a large stretch of golden sand and clear blue waters, Alicate Beach is understandably a tourist hotspot. Situated on the Elviria side of Marbella, Alicate offers a good selection of nearby shops, bars and cafés, together with a beach club.
