If you are planning to stay in Porto on a tight budget, the Parque de Campismo da Prelada is amongst the most popular camping sites and lies around 4 km / 2.5 miles to the north-west of the city centre, along the Rua Monte dos Burgos.

Further year-round seaside sites are to be found across the river, in the neighbouring Vila Nova de Gaia area, while in central Porto itself, the most popular accommodation comes in the form of hotels. However, the Pousada de Juventude do Porto Youth Hostel is available for backpackers close by, offering a cheap riverside location along the Rua Paulo da Gama.

Where to Stay

The most well placed hotels in the city of Porto are located within the district of Ribeira, which is the city's vibrant riverfront nucleus.

Accommodation choices are often close to the riverside promenade, with three-star hotels in plentiful supply along the Rue Ferreira Borges and around the Praça da Ribeira, where the Pestana Porto Hotel resides.
