Those with an eye for art appreciation will discover plenty to enjoy at the countless art galleries in Krakow. Others who are simply looking to purchase a painting of this famous Polish city as a souvenir will enjoy looking around the large selection of commercial art galleries in central Krakow and the Stare Miasto district (Old Town), where postcards and cheaper prints are also often available.

Located on the Old Market Square, the AB Art Object Gallery offers a good selection of inexpensive modern pieces, along with hand-painted pottery and various glass works, while nearby, the Friends of the Fine Arts Society Gallery is known for its changing exhibitions and successful mixture of both modern and more traditional art, from both Poland and throughout Europe.


Other notable art galleries in Old Town Krakow include the Artemis, BB Art Object, Art Bunker (Bunkier Sztuki), Crypt, Galeria Osobliwosci ESTE, Proscenium, and the Czartoryski Museum, which has become famous for one painting alone, the 'Lady with an Ermine'. Painted in 1485 by artist Leonardo da Vinci, the Lady with an Ermine is one of only four female portraits painted by the artists, with another being the 'Mona Lisa'. As of May 2011 the MOCAK Museum of Contemporary Art in Krakow opened it doors to the public .
