For some of the most interesting souvenirs, take a shopping expedition to the flea market on the Mars Tér, close to the bus station, which is actually the largest market in the whole of Szeged.

However, if you prefer something a little larger, where many different shops are all grouped together under one roof, then the Szeged Plaza shopping centre is for you and is also home to numerous eateries, and a popular cinema.

When to Shop and Opening Hours

The majority of the shops and shopping arcades found in Szeged choose to open between the hours of 09:00 and 18:00 Monday to Friday, and from 09:00 until 13:00 each Saturday, remaining closed on Saturday afternoons and on Sundays.

Where to Shop

Public transport connects all of the main shopping areas around Szeged, although for many, the shops right in the heart of the centre will be more than adequate, with many being based on or close to the Széchenyi Tér and the Tisza Lajos Körut. Also look along the nearby Dugonics Tér, the Somogyu Utca and the Kelemen Lászió Utca.

For supermarket shopping in Szeged at its very best, two names emerge, Cora and Tesco, where many familiar Western-style good can be found. These are also many other smaller supermarkets strewn around the city, along with local grocery stores.
