Paris by Coach
We treated ourselves to a coach trip to Paris for a three nights' stay. We went via Eurotunnel and the journey was a bit long but a very enjoyable experience. The tour manager was a great asset as she was so knowledgeable and told us so many interesting tit-bits that we would not have known otherwise. We did several optional excursions including a tour of the city, a evening trip on the River Seine, going up the Montparnasse Tower and a visit to the amazing Palace of Versailles. We soon made friends with lots of the other travellers and all in all it was a great trip and we would recommend it. The only downside was that the hotel breakfast left a bit to be desired but once again our tour manager sorted it.

Places to stay in Paris
When going to visit my daughter in Paris I found the most stressful thing was trying to find good decent accommodation! I am not a fan of hotels so they were immediately out of the equation, I wanted something that felt more homely! But with all these horror stories on internet scams and people paying their hard earn cash for an imaginary apartments, I was extremely skeptical about booking one via the internet!
After a lot deliberation and several recommendations I finally went with the company Feels Like Home in Paris, and that it truly was!Our trip was wonderful as our daughter was able to come and stay with us, so it felt like we were back home in Ireland! We rented the apartment at Saint-Maur that was just around the corner from the metro which was ideal.
After feeling secure with our apartment we were free to enjoy the rest of Paris and a few of my daughters favorite places to hang out in Paris like none other then Galerie Lafayette! Thank god she is old enough to be earning a wage!

The Sacre Couer - What a Sight!
I caught an underground train and visited the Sacre Couer. It was completely breathtaking, although did look a little strange and out of place. This basilica featured in the film 'Amelie' and is home to a massive pipe organ, and some very eleboarte decor, both inside and out.

Wandering Around the Montmartre
We went to the Moulin Rouge area, saw the Sacre Couer and then wandered around the enchancing Montmatre area. I don't known if we hit lucky or if it always like that, but there was loads of street entertainment and artists drawing pictures and portraits. This way a highlight of my Parisian holiday and there was a lot packed into this relatively small part of Paris. It was very 'French', or certainly how I imagined France would be.

Crusing along the River Seine
Crusing along the River Seine - what could be nicer? We took an evening cruise along the Seine in February, where the boat had great big floodlights along the sides. We saw so many huge Paris landmarks in a matter of minutes, the Eiffel Tower, the Notre Dame, bridges and more. It was however extremely cold and by the time it was nearing the end, I was pleased that it was finishing, but then I guess that was my fault for sitting on the top, rather than inside. Boat trips in Paris are easy to come by.

Check Out the Illuminated Eiffel Tower by Night
We walked to the Eiffel Tower one afternoon and spent a few hours properly exploring this area, before having a nice evening meal close by. When we left the restaurant, i was amazed at how beautiful the tower looked, sparkling with all its lights and bring illuminations. Very special. I took a photo, but it didn't really do it justice by any means and everytime I show it to people I find myself telling this story.
