Picture of the city's universityThe climate in Vantaa is pleasant and continental, featuring warm summers and cold winters. However, over the past years the seasonal differences have become considerably more blurred, with monthly weather changes being fairly subtle and temperatures in Vantaa being especially mild.

Vantaa experiences its very finest weather between the months of June and August, when daytime temperatures always average around 18°C / 64°F or 20°C / 86°F, peaking in July at close to 25°C / 86°F.
As a result of the fine days, many summer festivities take place at this time of the year, particularly in nearby Helsinki, such as the Helsingin Juhlaviikot each August. However, do not be lulled into a false sense of security, as whilst summer days can be hot, at times they can also be a little wet.


Seasonal Climate Variations / When to Go

Anytime of the year is a good time to visit Vantaa and the winter weather lends itself to some quite different attractions, which come in the form of nearby ski resorts. December and January always feature the coldest climate, when temperatures rarely climb above freezing, both by day and night. However, by the end of March, the big Vantaa thaw is well on its way and spring is just around the corner.
