The ever-popular Finnish Aviation Museum can be found next to the Helsinki-Vantaa International Airport and around 9 km / 6 miles from the city centre.

Those looking for some good examples of Finnish art should look no further than the Vantaa Art Museum, where many modern pieces are exhibited, created by artists both from the Greater Helsinki region and throughout Finland. Within this complex, there is also a Silence Sound Centre, movie theatre, district library and a restaurant.


Finnish Aviation Museum

Managed by the Finnish Aviation Museum Foundation, this cultural attraction has been here ever since the early 1980s, being expanded a number of times over the years. Currently more than 70 different aircraft are displayed here, including gliders and several light-engine planes. There is also an array of aviation memorabilia, with literally thousands of exhibits here, along with engines and also a variety of propellers. Other highlights include literally thousands of books and magazines, scale models and the popular Cafe Cockpit.

Vantaa Art Museum

Situated within the multi-purpose Myyrmäki Hall, the Vantaa Art Museum contains a variety of contemporary art works, from both Finland and throughout Europe. The exhibition space is filled with various visiting exhibitions of both sculptures and paintings, where past artists have included Antero Kahila, Antti Törrönen and Tommi Toija.

Vantaa Agricultural Museum

The bilingual Vantaa Agricultural Museum is managed by the historic association of the Helsinge Lantmannagille Vanda, which was established as long ago as 1882. Comprising two modern wooden buildings, this museum is a relatively recent addition to the city's attractions and only opened in 2006. A wide range of historic farming equipment relating to the city's rich agricultural heritage is to be found here, including some rather old tractors and tools, along with a cafe and events room for up to 200 people.

Vantaa City Museum

Situated within the former Tikkurila Railway Station, a historic building dating back to the early 1860s, the Vantaa City Museum contains a wealth of exhibits relating to all aspects of the city's history. Many of the exhibitions change on a regular basis, meaning that there is always something fresh to see here.
Open hours: Monday to Wednesday, Friday - 09:00 to 15:00, Thursday - 13:00 to 18:00, Saturday and Sunday - 11:00 to 16:00
