Glastonbury Restaurants and Dining

(Glastonbury, Somerset, England, UK)

Town centre pictureEating out in Glastonbury is what you make it, with hearty English pub grub being amongst the cheapest option for visitors. Those who prefer fine dining will find that Glastonbury is also home to a handful of restaurants and bistros, offering everything from pizzas and Indian fare, to seafood, Mexican and Chinese.

The cafe scene here is particularly well developed, with many coffee shops scattered around the town centre, often offering views of the Glastonbury Abbey remains and spilling out onto the pavement in the summer.

Where to Eat

Of note is the Abbey Tea Room on Magdalene Street, where traditional Somerset cream teas can be enjoyed at most times. As well as tea, scones and a selection of cakes, the Abbey Tea Room also offers soups and light dining, and is situated opposite the Glastonbury Abbey car park. Nearby, the town of Street also features a number of dining establishments, with the Saffron being one of the area's best Indian restaurants, with further eateries at Street's Clarks Village shopping complex.

Festival-goers will find that Glasto is not a cheap place to eat, and although there are plenty of food stalls, selling everything from crepes and sandwiches, to ostrich burgers and fish and chips, it is usually rather pricey. Therefore, many people who camp at the Glastonbury Festival choose to self cater, bringing a camping stove and enough food to last a few days.
