There are day trip possibilities and nearby Norfolk attractions surrounding Norwich in all directions. The picturesque Norfolk Broads lie to the east, while the town of King's Lynn is situated to the west and contains a wealth of medieval attractions, including two guildhalls, the Greyfriars Tower, the Old Gaol House and Purfleet Quay, amongst others.

Close to King's Lynn and Dersingham is the famous village of Sandringham, where the principal attraction of Sandringham House is to be found. At just over one hour away from Norwich, Sandringham House makes for a popular day trip and is a favourite country retreat of the British monarchy, opening for guided tours between April and October, and closing briefly at the end of July. To the far south-west, the city of Cambridge is within reach of Norwich and is famous throughout the world for its university colleges.

General Information

If you fancy an excursion to the beach, then the resort of Great Yarmouth is a mere 35-minute drive to the east of Norwich. Great Yarmouth is home to many traditional seaside attractions, such as amusement arcades, the Britannia Pier, the Pleasure Beach amusement park, the Model Village and a SeaLife centre.

Located a similar distance away from Norwich, only this time to the north, Cromer is another lively beach town and boasts a scenic setting on the North Norfolk coastline. Conveniently connected to Norwich city by train, Cromer has been a popular seaside attraction since it was discovered by the Victorians and has a lengthy sandy beachfront and an almost endless selection of coastal pathways. The National Trust property of Felbrigg Hall is situated just outside of Cromer, while Sheringham and Wells-Next-The-Sea are also nearby and to the west.
