Norwich Hotels and Accommodation

(Norwich, Norfolk, England, UK)

Rooftop city viewThe accommodation scene in Norwich is certainly very buoyant, with plenty of hotels to meet the high number of annual visitors. Lodging rates vary considerably, with the cheapest hotels tending to be located just outside of Norwich and close to the city's airport.

The Express by Holiday Inn is one such cheap hotel and is situated just 1.5 km / 1 mile from Norwich International Airport, on the Drayton High Road. Close by and standing on Cromer Road and right next to the airport itself is the slightly larger and more expensive Holiday Inn Norwich North, which features modern accommodation, an indoor swimming pool, fitness centre and business facilities.

Where to Stay

Of course, most visitors to Norwich are prepared to pay a little more to stay in the heart of the action, and good hotels in the city centre are in demand, ranging from large chains and branded accommodation (such as Best Western, Marriott, Ramada and Travelodge), to small guest houses and family owned B&Bs.

Situated directly opposite from the Cathedral Church of St. John the Baptist and close to the Chapelfield Gardens, the Georgian House Hotel on Unthank Road is a beautiful Victorian residence with its own tree-filled gardens, providing a high standard of lodging. Nearby on Earlham Road and also on the western side of Norwich, the Beeches Hotel boasts accommodation spread across three individual Victorian houses, all of which are Grade II listed.

However, due to its popularity, a minimum stay of two nights is required at the weekends.

If you are looking to stay outside of Norwich and in a countryside setting, then lodging options presents themselves around the Norfolk Broads. At approximately 40 km / 25 miles to the north of Norwich, the seaside town of Sheringham is an attractive spot and is where luxury accommodation is available at the Dales Country House Hotel, located next to the National Trust's Sheringham Park. Just 8 km / 5 miles south of Norwich is the village of Swainsthorpe, where the sumptuous De Vere Dunston Hall awaits guests.
