Where to Stay

Also suitable for those looking for budget accommodation is the Leicestershire Backpackers Hostel, which resides just 5 km / 3 miles to the north of the city and on Wanlip Lane, off the Loughborough Road (A6). There are some very cheap and affordable B&Bs, small hotels and guest houses based around both London Road and Saxby Street, directly to the south of the railway station. However, the area is not the most desirable part of the city and this is reflected in the prices.

Much of the lodging in central Leicester comes in the form of familiar brand-name accommodation. These chain hotels include the Express by Holiday Inn on the Filbert Way, Raw Dykes Road, which is conveniently located alongside the King Power Stadium, where the Leicester City Football Club is based.

Other accommodation lies on the outskirts of the city and includes the Marriott on Smith Way (Grove Park), the Best Western Stage Hotel on Leicester Road, and both the Days Inn Forest East (Welcome Break Services) and the Hilton Hotel, off junction 21 of the M1 motorway.
