These nightspots include the Rainbow and Dove on Charles Street, the Dover Castle on Dover Street, and the Village in the Belgrave Gate area.

Held most years in September, Leicester Pride is the city's biggest gay event. Its colourful procession starts on High Street, next to the Highcross Shopping Centre, passing by Leicester Market and the Clock Tower, and heading towards the Belgrave Gate and Phoenix Square areas, as well as Victoria Park.

The city's popular Pride festival reliably draws in more than 5,000 festival-goers and features much live entertainment, which comes in the form of drag queens, live music, DJs and pride parties within the surrounding bars.
