HMS Tincomalee
Actually it's been around since 1817, but even still it's an incredibly exciting landmark. Most people spend a whole day exploring it but you should perhaps try and get there during the school holidays as classes of youngsters usually get dragged around it by their teachers everyday of the week.

Brilliant
My grandfather was in the navy for a number of years, so people from our family have always been interested in attractions such as HMS Tincomalee - the oldest warship in Britain that we had the chance to visit in Hartlepool. Fantastic to say that it has been around since 1717!

Re. first rate museum
Slightly different but if you like the history I wondered if you checked out Hartlepool Quay or not? They have restored it to how it was in the 18th century - simply not to be missed.

First rate museum
I am an American but one side of the family came from Hartlepool. Tracing my heritage, I visited the town in early 2010 and was taken to the Museum of Hartlepool by relatives. A wonderful experience and I just wish we had more stuff like this in the States - as we are still a relatively young country.

What an experience
I found that a lot of the attractions in Hartlepool had some connection to the sea and Hartlepool's Maritime Experience was no exception. This filled in a lot of the blanks left unfilled by the Quay, the HMS boat, and the Museum of Hartlepool.
