Cambridge Hotels and Accommodation

(Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, UK)

There is an appealing mixture of B&Bs, guest houses, period hotels and modern accommodation located within the university city of Cambridge, offering much to choose between. For budget lodging in the city, consider staying at the Cambridge YHA Hostel on Tenison Road, which is around a 15-minute stroll from the city centre and is conveniently close to the train station. Also located on Tenison Road is the highly recommended Tenison Towers Guest House, which is well-placed for anyone wishing to spend time exploring the University Botanic Garden.

The main tourist season in Cambridge runs roughly from early spring to late summer, and during the university holidays (from late June until late September), seasonal hotels and similar accommodation options are at their most plentiful, with B&Bs cropping up all over the city.

Visitors who feel most comfortable lodging in familiar brands will find plenty of chain accommodation to choose between. The best of these include both the centrally located Best Western on Gonville Place and the Crowne Plaza on Downing Street. Standing on the outskirts of Cambridge is the Holiday Inn on Lakeview Bridge Road, next to the villages of Histon and Impington. The Royal Cambridge Hotel is also located in this part of Cambridgeshire and resides on Trumpington Street, where it is part of an appealing Georgian terrace.

Situated close to the Fitzwilliam Museum and Art Gallery, the DoubleTree Hilton Garden Hotel at Granta Place, Mill Lane, is to be found right next to the River Cam and is actually the only hotel in the whole of Cambridge to actually boast riverbank accommodation. Overlooking the Parker's Piece parkland, the De Vere University Arms Hotel ranks as the best that the city has to offer and stands near to Christ's College, Downing College and Emmanuel College.
