Osijek Weather, When to Go and Climate Information

Osijek is a part of northern Croatia and experiences a temperate, continental climate. This translates as warm, moist summers and cold, often snowy, winters. The best time to travel here, as with anywhere in Eastern Europe, is between May and September, when it is warmest.

Due to its distance from the sea, Osijek tends to get overly warm in the summer months of July and August. This is also the wettest time and is when hotels generally operate at their peak. Spring and autumn have the nicest weather, and unless you are into freezing temperatures and short days, it is best to try and avoid the winter altogether, since temperatures may go as low as -10°C / 14°F at night.

Seasonal Climate Variations / When to Go

Although the seasons are similar, the climate is quite different from that of the Dalmatian coast to the west. Osijek is more in line with the weather of Eastern Europe - bearing in mind that it is closer to some Hungarian, northern Serbian and even Romanian cities than Zagreb. This means hot summers and frigid winters, while the coast is mostly warm year-round.

September and October are probably the best months to visit, as it is less busy at this time and not so hot. It also doesn't rain as much as in the summer. While May and June are also nice, it rains a lot more at this time of the year, particularly during the latter month of June. July and August are the hottest months and while tempting to visit at this time, it can actually get very warm - as high as the upper 30s (°C).
