Shah Alam Weather, When to Go and Climate Information

(Shah Alam, Selangor, Malaysia)

Shah Alam has an equatorial climate and is hot and humid year-round. Although there are cooler times in the year, it is mostly always warm, making sightseeing difficult - a reason there are so many air-conditioned malls in this part of the world.

Expect temperatures in the 30s (°C), with a little cooling off at night, although nothing below 20°C / 68°F. You will need an air-conditioned room whatever time of year you visit. January through April sees some rainy weather, but showers come in short bursts and rarely put a dampener on sightseeing. Perhaps the best time to visit, however, is from March to October, when humidity is bearable, rainfall is at a minimum and temperatures are pleasantly warm.

Seasonal Climate Variations / When to Go

There is not much variation in the weather in Shah Alam. The climate is always hot and sticky, with a slight difference in June and July, when it tends to be drier.

If you have an aversion to rain, try to avoid visiting January through April, when the rainfall is more significant. However, during these months visitors are rarely hindered by the rain, which comes in short bursts. It rains most often during these months, yet rarely all day. Hotels at this time of year can generally be had cheaper than, say, in June and July, or over the Christmas period. Visitors need only pack lightweight clothing when visiting, with the addition of a lightweight raincoat and umbrella if visiting during the wetter months.
