Where to Shop

Nagasaki's Chinatown is a particularly colourful and lively place to begin your shopping and although this district is fairly compact, it contains plenty of shops selling a range of traditional Japanese souvenirs, many of which lie alongside restaurants and stylish Chinese-style buildings. Further interest lies along the Shindaiku Arcade, where market traders and small shops specialise in local produce, including fruit, vegetables, meat and fish.

Part of the actual Nagasaki Train Station, the Amu Plaza is a prominent shopping mall with five floors and a number of eateries, while for a spot of history, visit the Naka-dori Arcade, the city's oldest shopping centre of its kind and full of character.
