Nagasaki Hotels and Accommodation

(Nagasaki, Kyushu, Japan)

View of the Nagasaki coastlineNagasaki contains a good variety of accommodation, ranging from upscale luxury hotels to the traditional Japanese city 'love hotels'. There are even a few Japanese ryokan inns scattered around the centre of Nagasaki, together with budget minshuku (Japanese family run B&B-style accommodation) and inexpensive youth hostels.

Most of the cheaper hotels in Nagasaki contain fairly basic guest rooms and many also feature shared bathrooms. However, for just a little more money, the overall standard of accommodation on offer improves greatly and features spacious rooms with plenty of traditional finishing touches.

Where to Stay

Many cheap accommodation options and rather tacky love hotels lie around the A-bomb site, such as the Minshuku Tanpopo inn, on the northern side of the JR Nagasaki Station.

More upmarket hotels reside in the Glover Garden region of Nagasaki and have much to offer, with spacious guest rooms and on-site restaurants. However, the best place stay in without doubt central Nagasaki, where a number of reasonably priced ryokan are amongst the best offerings.

Nearby, the Miyuji-so Business Hotel and the Holiday Inn Nagasaki are especially popular and feature good-value Western-style accommodation, catering well for both businessmen and families.

Further hotels stand close to the JR Nagasaki Station, with the JR Kyushu Hotel Nagasaki actually being part of the complex itself and featuring surprisingly spacious rooms. A range of accommodation is also based around the lively Chinatown shopping arcade, where top nightspots, restaurants and shops are just a short walk away, being clustered around the Shian-bashi Gourmet Street and also at the Hamano-machi Arcade.
