Yokohama Shopping Districts

If you are hoping to do a spot of shopping during your stay in Yokohama, you will discover plenty to fill your day. Featuring a good selection of shops and eateries, the Landmark Plaza Shopping Mall lies in the Minato Mirai of Yokohama and is spread over five floors.

The Landmark Tower contains an enormous shopping mall and is amongst the tallest high-rise buildings in the whole of Japan and even contains a theme park, complete with Ferris wheel, while Lumine Yokohama is home to around 200 shops and plenty of fashion boutiques.

When to Shop and Opening Hours

Shops in Yokohama always seem to be open, with the main stores trading between the hours of 09:00 and 19:00. Large department stores and shopping malls may open a little later, at around 10:00 or 11:00, while the smallest shops do close as early as 17:00. Some small shops in Yokohama also stay closed all day on Sunday.

Where to Shop

Close to Yokohama Bay, the Mycal Honmoku Shopping Mall can be found in the Naka-ku district and purports to be the country's largest mall, with its excess of 300 shops, restaurants and cafes, and even a multi-screen cinema.

With more than 100 shops and parking for over 500 cars, Porta is a great place to spend your money. Nearby, Queen's Square is home to a huge complex of shops almost resembling a town and incorporates the Pan Pacific Hotel Yokohama, office blocks, numerous restaurants and many entertainment venues, such as the Yokohama Minato Mirai Concert Hall.

Other top shopping centres in Yokohama include Sotetsu Joinus and the Diamond Shopping Mall, both of which are close to the main train station. For specialist shops and designer fashion, the Odakaya More's is worth a look.

The Sky Building is a particular highlight in Yokohama's shopping scene and boasts the gigantic Marui department store, where you can easily spend many hours looking for the perfect gift. Here are Yokohoma's main shopping centres.
