Jerusalem Weather and Climate Information

(Jerusalem, Israel)

Skyline summer photoThe climate of Jerusalem really falls into two very obvious seasons. Winter weather in Jerusalem is fairly cold and this can be a rather wet time of the year, with snow often making an appearance.

However, the summer climate soon arrives, bringing with it much sunny weather and considerably higher temperatures, which regularly rise higher than 30°C / 86°F during the months of June, July, August and September. Despite the high temperatures, Jerusalem enjoys relatively low levels of humidity, meaning that the heat is much easier to tolerate.

Seasonal Climate Variations / When to Go

The summer climate of Jerusalem, between May and September, is not only reliably hot, but consistently dry, with virtually no rain to speak of and sunglasses being an essential item of luggage. Rainy weather can be expected from late September onwards, although downpours are rarely extreme, and even though January and February are the wettest months, precipitation levels don't usually exceed 130 mm / 5.1 inches.

Spring is always a good time to holiday in Jerusalem, particularly between April and May, when the surrounding region erupts in a display of springtime wild flowers. Tourists flock to the city in their greatest numbers during the dry summer months, especially in July and August, when even the night-time temperatures stay close to 20°C / 86°F.
