The Xiangyang Market is a great spot for discount clothing and is located at the corner of Huaihai Lu and Ziangyang Lu, while the Dongjiadu Cloth Market off Dongjiadu Lu has become known throughout Shanghai for its inexpensive silk and cashmere.

When to Shop and Opening Hours

Shopping is a major pastime in Shanghai and to cope with demand, shops remain open Monday through Sunday, with long hours.

Typical hours fall between 09:00 to 21:00 or 22:00, with the shops often becoming busy during the evenings, as city workers end their day. However, some do operate more Western-style shopping hours, from 09:00 until 17:00 or thereabouts.
