Shanghai Art Galleries

(Shanghai, China)

Photo showing the historic Shanghai Art MuseumSeveral renowned art galleries are to be found around the city of Shanghai and offer a mixture of temporary exhibitions and permanent collections, although art exhibits in some galleries do frequently exercise self-censorship.

Particularly noteworthy is the Shanghai Art Museum, which is housed in a heritage building and once overlooked a popular racecourse.

Many visitors to the city also choose to enjoy the many modern Chinese paintings on offer at the Elegant Gallery on Shui Cheng Nan Lu.
