The city of Shanghai is close to an extremely large collection of golf clubs, with over 20 different golf courses and driving ranges within reach of the city centre. Ranging from short nine-hole golf courses to more challenging 18-hole courses boasting ocean vistas and valley views, a round of golf at one of Shanghai's many courses is sure to impart a lasting memory.

Many of the golf courses in the Shanghai area offer extensive facilities, including golfing schools, professional instructors and large clubhouses, complete with restaurants, terraced areas, and on some occasions, even swimming pools and saunas. Here are Shanghai's main golf courses.

The Nine Dragons Golf Club

Opened towards the end of 2006, this relatively new addition to the region's golfing scene has already made quite an impression. Comprising two separate 18-hole championship courses, both of which are becoming known for their challenging holes and elevated views across the China Sea, the Nine Dragons Golf Club can be reached in around an hour.

Binhai Golf Club

With two 18-hole golf courses, both of which are par 72 and suit most abilities, the Binhai Golf Club welcomes visitors. With fairly modern facilities, the club opened in 2003 and also contains a driving range with around 20 individual bays. The two golf courses are both roughly 7,000 yards in length.

Dongzhen Golf Country Club

With a massive driving range offering almost 50 individual bays, the Dongzhen Golf Country Club is a great place to practice your swing and welcomes visitors. The club is also home to a gymnasium, sauna and tenpin bowling, amongst other facilities.
