The Shanghai Museum on People's Square
People's Square is an imporant part of the city and in 1996, the already very established Shanghai Museum relocated here to a large and more suitable building. The museum has over 100,000 works of art in its care - a phenomenal figure that I can't really comprehend. The best paintings are distributed around 11 galleries and 3 exhibition halls.

Downtown Shanghai and along Nanjing Lu
People come to Downtown Shanghai for all sorts of things. We found that the Nanjing Lu street was very convenient for us and had a really good choice of shops and restaurants. It is also a useful link between the People's Square and the Huangpu River.

The Bund (Zhongshan Road)
Don't come to Shanghai without coming to the Bund. This is the city's waterfront and is located in the western area known as Pu Xi, directly opposite Pu Dong. This is the place to come if you want to see the best skyline in all its glory, with the Oriental Pearl TV Tower standing high above the other buildings, a real mixture of architectural styles. The nighttime reflections are quite mesmorising.
