Cheyenne Tourist Attractions and Sightseeing

(Cheyenne, Wyoming - WY, USA)

Sightseeing in Cheyenne couldn't be easier than simply hopping aboard the historic Street Railway Trolley bus. Taking in the main attractions of this state capital and departing from the Depot Plaza, these tours include entertaining narration along the route and last roughly 90 minutes, running throughout the summer months. For something a little more traditional and even more touristy, a horse and carriage ride is available.

Tourists may also like to catch a show performed by the Cheyenne Little Theater Players. This not-for-profit theater group was established at the beginning of the 1930s, which means that it actually ranks amongst the most historic of all America's community theater companies.

Another top tourist attraction worth considering is the Terry Bison Ranch, which lies roughly 7 miles / 11 km to the south of downtown Cheyenne and is easy to reach by following Interstate I-25, being roughly 20 minutes away. Alternatively, grab yourself a picnic and head to Holliday Park, home of Lake Minnehaha.

Cheyenne Little Theater Players

Performances are staged at either the Atlas Theater or the Mary Godfrey Playhouse, and in the past have included plays and musicals such as Barefoot in the Park, Fiddler on the Roof, It's a Wonderful Life, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, My Fair Lady and Willy Wonka Junior. The company also hosts a number of fundraising events, including screenings of classic movies and westerns, Broadway karaoke nights and even a rather fun and unique Zombie Fest.

Holliday Park is centered around the expansive Lake Minnehaha, where a number of recreational attractions await tourists during the summer months. Named after fictional Native American woman Minnehaha from the 1855 poem 'The Song of Hiawatha', the lake is transformed in the harsh winter months, when its freezes over and lends itself to ice skating. However, do make sure that there are signs up saying that the ice is thick enough for ice skating to be safe.
