Located on the southwestern side of Oklahoma City and close to the Syl Goldman Park, the Will Rogers World Airport has recently enjoyed major expansion and currently serves just under 20 airlines, flying to roughly 20 different destinations around the United States.

The airport was named after famous cowboy and comedian Will Rogers, who grew up in Oklahoma and became involved in the aviation industry, before sadly dying in a plane crash in 1935. Today, the airport handles more than 300,000 passengers every month and ranks as the state's busiest air facility in terms of passenger throughput.

The airport contains one large terminal building, with two separate arrivals and departures gates. The journey between the city center and the airport is relatively straightforward and the signs are easy to follow. Major roads nearby include the Meridian Avenue, which leads to Airport Road, and interstates I-35, I-40, I-44 (Will Rogers Expressway) and I-240 (Southwest Expressway).

Public buses operate at the Will Rogers World Airport at regular intervals each day, traveling to and from the nearby Union Bus Station in downtown Oklahoma City. Operated by the Metro Transit Bus Service, these buses are cheap and reliable, arriving and departing from the easterly side of the Transportation Plaza.

Additional services are also provided by the Jefferson Bus Line, with buses traveling further afield and connecting onward destinations such as Chickasha and Lawton, as well as both Fort Worth and Wichita Falls in Texas. Shuttle buses and shared-ride vans are also to hand, being run by Airport Express, Lightning Express and Metro Express.

Hotel Shuttles

Many major hotels in the city provide hotel shuttle buses for their guests, such as the Marriott Renaissance Oklahoma City Convention Center Hotel on North Broadway Avenue. These provide door-to-door transportation and may need to be arranged in advance.

Taxis

Airport taxi ranks are situated close to the Central Island area, on the lower level of the terminal. The journey into nearby Oklahoma City lasts approximately 15 minutes. Notable taxi firms operating here include A-1, Thunder Cabs and Yellow Cabs.
