Although the tourist scene is very much dominated by the wealth of sightseeing opportunities within the Yellowstone National Park, the town itself is particularly visitor-friendly, since it is used to such large numbers of people passing through. The center of West Yellowstone is home to a very comprehensive Visitors Center, which is a good place to plan your itinerary. Also on offer is the local Bear's Den Cinema, the state-of-the-art IMAX Theater and the popular Playmill Theater, where seasonal musicals are staged. However, the Yellowstone Historic Center Museum is on hand should you feel like finding out some information about the park's evolution and wildlife, and is located in the former Union Pacific Railroad Depot. Families will enjoy visiting the Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center, which is a successful combination of museum and zoo, successfully serving as an education center for tourists.
