St. Louis Zoo (One Government Drive) - something to visit
If you want to take the family to a good old city zoo, like we did, then St. Louis Zoo is the one. It is on One Government Drive and is often referred to as one of the country's leading zoos, so we thought we'd find out why. When we came it had free admission and around 5000 animals, split into 6 areas. There were elephants, hyenas, a rainforest area, a polar section, monkeys, snakes, insects and lots of birds. My children really liked when the sea lions were fed, and riding on the zoo train, oh, and the petting zoo, and the gorillas, and the tigers, and the... you get the idea, there was a lot to like. It closed at 17:00, but in the summer is open until much later.

The Jefferson Natl Expansion Memorial
The famous Saint Louis Gateway Arch towers high above the city and is part of the Jefferson Natl Expansion Memorial, the most well-known part in fact. This giant arch is an emblem of the city and is America's tallest monument. It is around 200 meters tall - so don't worry, you can't miss it! The actual memorial site covers around 90 acres and is next to the Mississippi River. We came here and to the lift to the very top of the arch, to the observation area, where there are actually some windows, although you can't really see them from the ground. It was amazing. Really amazing. We looked right down on the Old Courthouse. Then we went on a cruise, on one of the Gateway Arch Riverboats. It was all quite inexpensive really and we were here, around the riverfront, for most of the day.
