Saint Louis Hotels and Accommodation

(Saint Louis, Missouri - MO, USA)

Accommodation in Saint Louis is generally easy to come by, with hotels being located within the downtown district and also near to the main business areas, although if you crave a view of the famous Gateway Arch, be prepared to pay for it. Lodging is also available around the Central West End, the University City Loop, and in nearby Cahokia, Chesterfield, Clayton, Florissant, St. Charles, Westport and Wildwood, which is good for camp sites. Wildwood is where the Al Foster Trail and the Babler State Park are based, and is close to the Hidden Valley Ski Area and the popular Six Flags Saint Louis amusement park.

There are some very cheap hotels near to the Lambert Saint Louis International Airport (STL), which is only 13 miles / 21 km to the northwest and alongside the Hazelwood suburb. Accommodation within easy reach of the airport includes the Comfort Inn, the Hilton, the Marriott and the Renaissance, all of which reside on the southerly outskirts and close to the main terminal.

Where to Stay

Budget accommodation is available, although most is quite literally miles away from downtown Saint Louis and really only suitable for those with their own cars and prepared for a commute. Some reliable, cheap hotels are to be found within the neighboring town of St. Charles, which is situated just over 20 miles / 32 km away and to the northwest, next to the Missouri River.

Quite reasonably priced and recommended is the Best Western Inn at the Heimos Industrial Park (15 minutes from central Saint Louis), and the Oak Grove Inn on South Lindbergh Boulevard. Also of note is the very affordable Red Roof Inn Westport on Lackland Road, which is just off the Interstate I-270 and next to Maryland Heights.

Some of the most popular mid-range lodging areas in Saint Louis are located on the Lambert Drury, Plaza South 4th Street and Market Street, where both the downtown Courtyard by Marriott and Pear Tree Inn Union Station hotels await. Residing on North 9th Street, the accommodation available at the Holiday Inn Select Convention Center really does stand in the heart of the action, being opposite the America's Center and near to the Edward Jones Dome, the Busch Stadium, the trendy Laclede's Landing area and of course, the Gateway Arch.

If you want to stay in downtown Saint Louis and are prepared to pay for luxury accommodation, then there are a wealth of upmarket hotels that present themselves. At the peak of the lodging scale is the five-star Four Seasons Hotel on North 2nd Street, where the views of the Mississippi River and the Gateway Arch really cannot be improved upon. Similarly priced is the four-star Ritz Carlton Hotel on the Carondelet Plaza, within the dining and shopping suburb of Clayton, and the very affordable four-star Hyatt Regency St. Louis, which enjoys a prime situation on Chestnut Street, being no more than a few steps away from the Gateway Arch itself.
