The city's multi-cultural identity is reflected in St. Louis' distinct neighborhoods and districts. For all things Italian, head to The Hill and if you are looking for ethnic eateries, St. Louis' University City Loop district has them in abundance, not to mention quirky boutiques and a lively nightlife scene.

In the Grand South Grand neighborhood of St. Louis you will find excellent Asian restaurants and specialty shops, as well as Tower Grove Park and the popular Missouri Botanical Gardens. Some of the city's most iconic landmarks are to be found in St. Louis' downtown district, home to the Old Courthouse, Union Station and the city's signature monument, Gateway Arch.


Central West End District

This fascinating district contains a wealth of visitor attractions. At its heart lies Forest Park, the huge urban green-space that's home to the St. Louis Science Center, Art Museum and Zoo. The leafy area is also home to the Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis, not to mention a myriad of boutiques, coffee houses, galleries and eateries.

Downtown District

Downtown is home to some of the city's most iconic symbols including grand Union Station, the historic Old Courthouse and St. Louis' signature landmark, the monumental Gateway Arch. This district also the setting for the rejuvenated Laclede's Landing, a historic waterfront area complete with cobbled streets, converted warehouses, hotels, restaurants and entertainment venues.

Grand South Grand District

Home to Tower Grove Park and St. Louis' tranquil Missouri Botanical Gardens, the Grand South Grand neighborhood is culturally interesting and ethnically diverse. The area has a large Asian population and its specialty shops, inviting restaurants and colorful cafés reflect its diversity.

University City Loop District

This funky area of St. Louis contains some great international restaurants, where you can eat out without breaking the bank. Being a student area, it also has some quirky shops and a lively café and bar scene. Some of the city's best clubs and entertainment venues are located here, most famously at Blueberry Hill.

Soulard District

St. Louis' Soulard neighborhood has a number of restored Victorian homes and a decent selection of blues clubs, restaurants and pubs. The atmospheric neighborhood is also home to the Anheuser-Busch Brewery along with the city's historic Soulard Farmer's Market, where it is possible to buy fresh foods, cut flowers, jewelry and clothing.

The Hill District

This area is the undisputed Italian heart of St. Louis. The neighborhood boasts excellent Italian restaurants, delicatessens and specialty shops. For all things Italian, head to The Hill.
