St. Louis offers a host of interesting museums to keep visitors of all ages entertained. The numerous cultural offerings in the city tackle a number of subjects, including history, race and science, and there are also many fine art collections.

Black World History is an excellent facility that aims to educate visitors about black history through the ages. The Missouri History Museum is another fine establishment which documents the history of the area. There is also plenty of family fun on the agenda at several interactive museums in St. Louis, including City Museum and the inspiring Magic House.


American Kennel Club - Museum of the Dog

This unusual museum features a variety of artwork, with an emphasis on paintings with dogs as their subjects. The works are depicted in various styles, by both famous and obscure artists. There is also an extensive library at St. Louis' Museum of the Dog, containing everything you ever wanted to know about our canine friends, not to mention some interesting doggy artifacts.

St. Louis' City Museum is a truly fascinating museum, featuring some spectacular exhibits. Highlights include the Enchanted Caves, where visitors can clamber through caves and tunnels; Monstro City, a welded interactive sculpture; and a whole host of other exciting interactive displays.

The St. Louis Black World History Museum provides features, exhibits and collections that educate visitors about black history from the early slave days to contemporary times. Features include a replica slave ship, archaeological artifacts, special exhibitions and a gift shop.

The captivating Missouri History Museum documents the heritage of the St. Louis area with some excellent exhibits, collections and artifacts. There are personal artifacts from famous St. Louis residents including Miles Davis, Chuck Berry and Tina Turner. The museum is also home to historic documents such as the original purchase agreement selling Louisiana territory to France in 1804.

The Magic House

Features at this exciting children's museum include a vast sculpture that visitors can make impressions in with their bodies and an electrostatically charged ball that will have your hair standing on end. The Magic House also contains a display about magnets, among many more interactive exhibitions specially designed for children.
