Frankfort Maps and Orientation

(Frankfort, Kentucky - KY, USA)

Located on the northern side of Kentucky state and within relatively close proximity to the city of Lexington, Frankfort serves as both the capital of the state (the Commonwealth) and the seat for Franklin County.

Since the population of Frankfort is so modest and only slightly larger than 25,000 people, the city is actually the fifth-smallest of all America's state capitals. The city belongs to the spreading Frankfort Micropolitan Statistical Area (comprising the counties of both Anderson and Franklin), which has an overall population in the region of 80,000 people and itself belongs to the larger Lexington-Fayette-Frankfort-Richmond Combined Statistical Area.

Maps of Franklin will show how the Kentucky River winds its way through the very heart of the city, passing by prominent landmarks and attractions such as the Old US Courthouse, the Dolly Graham Park, the Governor's Mansion and the expansive Capital View Park.
