Getting Around, Wichita Travel, Transport and Car Rental

(Wichita, Kansas - KS, USA)

Nestled in the center of the United States, Wichita is one of the most remote major cities in America, yet it is fairly easy to travel to. Wichita comes with a busy airport, which receives flights from major nationwide cities, with shuttle vans ready to whisk visitors into the city center and its hotels.

Wichita is also well served by various interstates and highways, while Greyhound buses travel into the city directly and indirectly from many major cities. These include Dallas, Fort Worth and Oklahoma City to the south, Fort Smith and Tulsa to the southeast, Kansas City to the northeast, Lincoln and Omaha to the north, and both Dodge City and Garden City to the west, as well as many additional destinations further afield.

Wichita Mid-Continent Airport (ICT) / Arriving by Air

The Wichita Mid-Continent Airport is the largest airport in Kansas and is located 5 miles / 8 km to the southwest of town. The airport is served by some 11 airlines that fly direct to 10 major cities across the United States. The Airport Road and Highway US-54 east offer fast access to downtown Wichita and two shuttle van operations provide travel to and from the city.

Car Rental

You will find all major car rental travel firms operating out of Wichita Mid-Continent Airport, including Avis, Budget, Dollar, Hertz and National, while Enterprise and Thrifty have transport offices in the city center. Wichita is served by Interstate I-35, which comes in from Kansas City in the northeast and carries on to Oklahoma City in the south. In addition, the major east-west Interstate I-70 lies to the north and Highway US-54 passes right through town.
