Kauai Hotels and Accommodation

(Kauai, Hawaii - HI, USA)

Coastal hotel photoThe stunning and lengthy coastline of Kauai has long been responsible for the island being amongst the most popular with holiday makers heading to Hawaii, and there are plenty of hotels to easily meet the demand. Part of the charm of Kauai is how relatively undeveloped in remains, and hotels frequently offer modern accommodation in spacious grounds and within low-rise resorts.

Budget lodging is scattered within the main resorts and amongst the luxury hotels, and so you really do have a good choice. However, in general, the more you pay for your Kauai accommodation, the better the ocean views and proximity to the beaches.

Where to Stay

Being especially near to the main airport and also the island capital, Lihue contains a good choice of hotels, along with an outstanding golf course, within the Kauai Lagoons resort. A number of hotels in Lihue line Rice Street and Wilcox Road, next to Kalapaki Beach, and also the Kauai Beach Drive.

Right next to Lihue is the Coconut Coast and the accommodation here is especially popular, with lodging options being clustered around the towns of Kapaa, Kealia and Wailua, and including familiar brands, such as Best Western and Holiday Inn. Of note, the award-winning Kauai Coconut Beach Resort comes highly recommended and lies along the Kuhio Highway, within Kapaa.

When it comes to condos, the Kauai Beach Resort is popular and boasts a beachfront setting, tropical gardens and a swimming pool complete with waterfalls. At the Islander on the Beach resort, studio condos come with beachfront views and easy access to the Coconut Marketplace. If you are looking for something a little more individual, then vacation rentals on the north shore are worth considering, where premium homes offer many luxuries. In particular, the rather pricey Kauikeolani Estate can be rented for a vacation and even has its very own private nine-hole golf course.

Head to the southern side of Kauai island and Poipu stands out as a leading Hawaiian beach resort, with hotels being well placed to coastal attractions and water sports, including year-round snorkelling.

Right next to Poipu, the Kahili Mountain Park on Koloa provides affordable accommodation with great views, while the Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort and Spa, on Poipu Road, may also be of interest.
