Lying at the far southerly point of Florida, Key West enjoys a truly unique and somewhat isolated coastal setting, with its plentiful beaches being complemented by a series of historical Victorian-style houses and charming districts. Bahama Village is one such neighborhood, located on the southwestern side of downtown Key West, in the Old Town area, and home to a public swimming pool, an outdoor flea market and plenty of restaurants, as well as the occasional free-roaming chicken.
Visitors arriving in Key West will soon realise that this is a very walkable city, with some interesting sights, such as the Southernmost Point Marker, where you can take your obligatory photograph. When the sun begins to set, Mallory Square soon fills up with locals, tourists and street-entertainers alike, making for a memorable evening. And while the scuba diving may lack beautiful coral reefs, it does offer some superb colonized shipwrecks.
