Daytona Beach Neighborhoods, Locations and Districts

(Daytona Beach, Florida - FL, USA)

Daytona Beach is essentially a simple city with only three distinct districts. The Central district is where some of the most popular attractions can be found, while those looking to enjoy the miles of sandy coastline can do so in all three areas.

The Halifax River runs the entire length of Daytona Beach city, giving visitors the chance to travel up and down the river and see more sights than can be seen by road alone.

Central / Downtown District

The Daytona Beach downtown district is the chief historic neighborhood and is home to a range of visitor interests. Shops and restaurants in the area are plentiful and attractions include the Halifax Historical Museum, the Riverfront Park and the Angell and Phelps Chocolate Factory. This area is also the main business center and is home to more than 650 businesses.

Shores District

Located south of the city, Daytona Beach Shores is a relatively new area, having only been established back in 1960. Stretching 5 1/2 miles / 9 km along the Atlantic coastline, this neighborhood is home to some of the city's best seafood restaurants.

Northern District

The northern district of Daytona Beach meets with the southerly portion of the neighboring city of Ormond Beach and the distinction between the two areas is often vague. As far as the beach goes, this location has the quietest areas and those seeking relaxation in this seaside city, without the disturbances of vehicles, can be assured of peace and quiet in the northern region.
