Riverside Hotels and Accommodation

(Riverside, California - CA, USA)

A fairly large Californian city with a population now comfortably exceeding some 300,000 residents, Riverside comes with a healthy accommodation scene, offering visitors plenty of choice, regardless of budget.

One of the most famous and most noteworthy hotels in the history of Riverside was the Glenwood Tavern, which is today named the Mission Inn Hotel and Spa, and is to be found standing on Mission Inn Avenue.

Now a Californian National Historic Landmark, this historic inn was founded as a small guest house in the year 1876 and was arguably at its best in the early decades of the 1900s, when it was regularly frequented by movie stars and international royalty. In fact, larger than life William Howard Taft (America's 27th president, between 1909 and 1913) was once a regular patron and even had his very own chair at the tavern.

Where to Stay

Riverside is a little over an hours' drive away from Los Angeles and is even closer to Anaheim. The advantage of looking for accommodation here, rather than in LA or Anaheim, is that hotels in Riverside are generally much better value, whilst having good access to the surrounding freeways.

Hotels in downtown Riverside are a reliable bet and are clustered around the Mission Inn area. Here you will find
Americas Best Value Inn on University Avenue, which regularly achieves rave reviews online. Others popular lodging choices in this part of the city include the Hyatt Place Downtown and the Santa Cruz Inn, both of which are to be found on Market Street. Less than a block away is the Riverside Marriott at the Convention Center.

On the eastern side of the city of Riverside is a further grouping of hotels on and around University Avenue, being close to the campus of the University of California, Riverside (UCR). This accommodation includes names such as the Budget Inn, the Courtyard Riverside Downtown, the Dynasty Suites Hotel, the Skylark Motel and the Thunderbird Lodge.
