Scottsdale Churches and Cathedrals

(Scottsdale, Arizona - AZ, USA)

The city of Scottsdale is called home by a wealth of churches, accompanied by countless chapels, mosques, synagogues and religious temples. Many local residents are Christian in their faith, with Roman Catholic and Protestant beliefs.

The First Baptist Church of Scottsdale is the city's oldest and has its origins at the very end of the 19th century, when it began its life as the Little Red Schoolhouse. Chaplain Winfield Scott played an integral part of the history of the city's religion and today, there is a cafe next to the First Baptist Church simply named 'Winfield's' in his honour.

Located in nearby Phoenix and particularly striking is St. Mary's Basilica, which is also known as the Church of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary and was founded in the early 1880s. The architecture is Spanish Colonial Revival in style and crowned by four imposing domes.
