Phoenix Art Galleries
(Phoenix, Arizona - AZ, USA)
The Phoenix metropolitan area offers a surprisingly broad range of art galleries and supports a burgeoning arts community concentrated in places such as Carefree, Cave Creek, Scottsdale
and Tempe. Downtown Phoenix is home to several reputable galleries and art-related museums, while numerous public and private buildings are noted for their striking architectural qualities.
The Phoenix Art Museum stands out in particular and has origins as far back as 1912, moving to its present building in 1959 and now designated as a local 'Point of Pride'. In 2006, the addition of a spacious modern art wing provided further much-needed gallery space.
Although images of cowboys and the West tend to dominate, there's no shortage of variety, with art work from around the world well represented here, as well as high quality sculptures and fine art ceramics.
