Mesa Maps and Orientation

(Mesa, Arizona - AZ, USA)

Sited on the southern side of central Arizona and often referred to as being a suburb of Phoenix, due to its closeness, the city of Mesa officially resides within the East Valley region of the spreading Phoenix Metropolitan Area.

Mesa is to be found within the county of Maricopa and is bounded by neighboring Tempe on its westerly axis. To the north is the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community, while head southwards and you will immediately reach Gilbert, and then Chandler.

Maps of Arizona will always include the city of Mesa, since this is actually the state's third-largest city, with its population fast approaching 500,000 people. Phoenix is currently the biggest city in Arizona, followed by Tucson.

Maps and Orientation of the City

Due to its proximity to Phoenix, Mesa is frequently described as being a 'bedroom community', meaning that a large number of its neighborhoods are filled with commuters. Many of the city's commuters are reliant upon the Valley Metro Light Rail system, which travels through Mesa, on its way to Tempe and then central Phoenix.

Although Mesa is undeniably a city of commuters, it does come with plenty of interest for those arriving with a sightseeing agenda. Official Arizona museums, together with lots of seasonal activities and annual events, ensure that the city remains busy for much of the year.

Many maps of Mesa often show the city divided into East and West portions. The Fiesta Mall resides within the western region, with the Superstition Springs shopping center being found on the eastern side of the city.
