Tobago Weather, When to Go and Climate Information

(Tobago, Republic of Trinidad and Tobago)

Summer picture taken at Store BayThe island of Tobago enjoys a very inviting climate all through the year, and many, many days of tropical sunshine. Surrounding Tobago, the water remains easily warm to enjoy a swim at anytime and is a good place to escape from the humid weather.

However, although sunny weather is plentiful in Tobago and the climate very favourable, the year is really divided into two main periods - the dry season and the wet season. The dry season tends to fall in the first half or the year, while the wet season follows for the last six months. Whilst some storms can be heavy at this time, there is still an awful lot of sunshine as well.

Seasonal Climate Variations / When to Go

Temperatures on Tobago rarely dip much below 30°C / 86°F and are often higher, with the overall climate feeling even hotter when humidity levels are noticeable. Any winds tend to arrive from the north-east and although they can sometimes be quite strong, the island has seen hurricanes completely pass it by in the past few years.

Due to the noticeable lack of rain, most tourists do tend to plan a holiday on Tobago between January and May, especially if endless sunshine is a must. Others prefer the quieter latter part of the year, when there is still plenty to do, and accommodation is easier to come by.
