Juliaca Inca Manco Capac International Airport (JUL) Information
(Juliaca, Puno, Peru)
The Inca Manco Capac International Airport is the main tourist gateway to the famous Titicaca Lake
, the largest lake in South America
and the highest navigable body of water in the world. The airport is located in the Puno region of Peru
, near the city of Juliaca. At an elevation of some 3,800 metres / 12,467 feet, it is ranked as the world's third-highest commercial air facility.
The site resides a few miles north of the centre of Juliaca and despite having the designation of an international airport, it does not currently handle any international flights. This single-terminal facility is served exclusively by domestic airlines such as LAN Peru, Star Peru and TACA Peru. These carriers provide domestic connections to the cities of Arequipa
. From the sizeable airport in Lima, passengers can connect with numerous international destinations.
