Foz do Iguacu / Itaipu Beaches

(Foz do Iguacu, Paraná, Brazil)

There are a number of popular artificial beaches spread around the shoreline of the lake created by the Itaipu Dam. Popular with families on sunny afternoons, these freshwater beaches lend themselves to a variety of recreational activities and water sports, even though they are many miles from the Atlantic Ocean.

The man-made beach at Foz do Iguacu was actually the seventh leisure area to be created next to the lake and has a long strip of sand, together with cycle trails, kiosks, toilets and parking for up to 400 vehicles. This spot also features two sandy football pitches and numerous public barbecues.
