Brasilia Restaurants and Dining

(Brasilia, Federal District, Brazil)

Brasilia is definitely a city for foodies and famously contains one of the largest concentrations of starred eateries and restaurants in the whole of Brazil. Dining out is always likely to be a highlight of any trip to Brasilia and those feeling especially hungry may like to look out for a 'rodizio' restaurant, where you can enjoy continuous service and all you can eat for a fixed-price, with endless skewered meat arriving at your table.

Self-service dining is more commonplace in Brasilia and this style of restaurant tends to be the cheapest, being known to Brazilians as 'por quilo'. A host of popular por-quilo eateries are based within the residential wings of the city, usually being just a short walk away from leading tourist attractions and hotels.

Where to Eat

The Setor Comercio Local Sul area of the city is where you will discover the best restaurants and this neighbourhood is almost always abbreviated to 'SCLS', being followed by the precise quadrant (quadra) number, the block and the actual building. Three excellent dining areas stand out in particular in the SCLS, and these are the 209/210, the 409/410 and also the 411/412 areas. This gourmet triangle is bustling with diners between Thursday and Sunday, when the nightlife of Brasilia peaks.

For those who prefer international dining, consider the restaurants within the SCLS 405 area of Brasilia. These eateries include everything from Chinese, Japanese and Thai, to French, Italian and Mexican, although be sure to reserve a table here at weekends. Shoppers in need of sustenance will find that various malls in Brasilia come with excellent air-conditioned food courts. The best of these include the Conjunto Nacional, the Patio Brasil and the Brasilia Shopping malls.
