Where to Eat

If you would prefer a lighter lunch, then you should probably consider dining at a Swedish 'konditori', which is a cross between a bakery and a cafe. Seafood usually features on the menus of many restaurants around Uppsala, when you are dining out in the evening. Simple cuisine known as 'husmanskost' tends to be favoured by locals and often includes dishes such as meatballs and potatoes (köttbullar och potatis) and cured salmon (gravadlax).

A number of the best restaurants in Uppsala are to be found around the areas of Bredgränd, Drottninggatan, Sankt Persgatan and Skolgatan. Fyristorg is an especially popular spot where many quality eateries and dining venues are gathered, close to the Fyris River and the Uppsala Cathedral (Domkyrkan).
