(Uppsala, Uppsala County, Sweden)
For the latest events information, entertainment options and current list of things to do in Uppsala, pay a visit to the tourist office on the Fyristorg and pick up your free 'What's On Uppsala' guide. The city's summer months are when many of the biggest festivals take place and there is always live jazz music at the Katlin club, on the Godsmagasinet, behind the railway station.
Each year in the heart of the summer season, the Uppsala Reggae Festival takes place. Held over three days since 2001, the Uppsala Reggae Festival has grown considerably over the years, both in size and stature, and now attracts some 10,000 people from across northern Europe. Other celebrations to look out for include the Mösspatagningen each April, a student-based ceremony held next to the Carolina Rediviva.
On the second Saturday in September, the Culture Night (Kulturnatten) is yet another treat and was first held in 1989. Today, Culture Night consists of literally thousands of artists performing on the streets of central Uppsala, attracting crowds of around 90,000 to 100,000 people and filling the air with excitement. You can expect to see everything from marching bands and live music, to jugglers and other circus-style performers.
