The Spanish city of Cordoba is situated within the autonomous community of Andalucia, where it is the capital of a province of the same name. Cordoba sits within the valley of the Guadalquivir, to the south of the Sierra Morena mountain range, where it enjoys a Subtropical-Mediterranean climate with extremely hot summers, followed by mild winters.

This is an ancient city, with an interesting Iberian and Roman heritage - it was once a provincial Roman capital. Its historical centre has boasted the prestigious accolade of World Heritage Site since the middle of the 1980s and really is a must-see.

For tourists, the historic quarter is where much of the interest and appeal lies within Cordoba. Here you will discover a maze of narrow alleyways, winding streets, whitewashed buildings and courtyards, which often lead towards the majestic Mezquita Cathedral. From the Mezquita, the city's railway station is roughly a 25-minute walk away (or a quick hop by taxi), being found on the Avenida de America. Fast trains connect all of the major Spanish cities, including its capital, Madrid.
