However, the weather in Maastricht is quite typical of that experienced in the Netherlands and can frequently be damp or even rather wet.

The local Dutch in Maastricht believe strongly in not letting even the most inclement of weather spoil their plans for a day and recommend packing for all possible eventualities and climate variations. These months also have the advantage of long daylight hours and usually plenty of sunny weather to go round and outweigh any rain, meaning that many attractions in Maastricht often extend their opening hours at this time of the year.

Any summer rainfall can add a level of humidity to the climate and make the days feel a little hotter than they actually are. However, conversely, in the winter, rainy weather tends to bring the temperatures down and is often accompanied by chilly breezes and some overnight frosts are to be expected. By the middle of March, the climate in Maastricht is definitely on the up and temperatures soon exceed 9°C / 48°F or 10°C / 50°F, rising sharply during April.
