(Maastricht, Limburg, Netherlands)

Aerial view of central squareThe city of Maastricht has long been a leading weekend destination in the Netherlands and hotels are busy all through the year, even during the winter months. Therefore, visitors looking for accommodation in Maastricht are advised to either book ahead, or to arrive early and leave plenty of time to find a room.

Many hotels in the city line the banks of the River Meuse and offer pleasant waterfront views, close to restaurants and many other delights. The riverfront Crowne Plaza Maastricht is one such hotel and provides well-placed accommodation, close to the Centraal Station and just 8 km / 5 miles from Maastricht Aachen Airport.

Where to Stay

Accommodation in central Maastricht is often close to the Market Square, such as the Hotel la Colombe, while other lodging options include hostels along both the Dousbergweg and the Kleine Gracht, and also private rooms, which can be booked at the tourist office.

The Maison Du Chene is one of the best-value hotels in Maastricht and this rather beautiful building is located along the Boschstraat, dating back as far as 1855 and featuring a notable brasserie on the lower floor. Highly recommended is the Hotel Derlon, which is regarded by many as providing the best accommodation in the whole of Maastricht and is actually built around some ancient Roman remains.

Such hotels include the NH Maastricht on the Forum, and the Van Der Valk Hotel on the Nijverheidsweg.

Also popular is the historical Best Western Grand Hotel De l'Empereur, on the Stationsstraat, where accommodation comes in the form of 150 guest rooms spread over four floors, complete with gourmet restaurant.
