Sorrento is relatively close to a number of major Italian cities and resorts, with some of the most popular including Amalfi, Naples, Pompeii and also Positano.

Offering breathtaking views across the sumptuous Bay of Naples, Sorrento enjoys an especially scenic situation towards the end of the Sorrentine Peninsula and in the distance you can see both the Isle of Capri and even Mount Vesuvius.


Maps and Orientation of the City

The very heart of Sorrento is denoted by the Piazza Tasso, which is situated directly next to the busy thoroughfare of the Corso Italia, ultimately leading to Naples. To the north of the Piazza Tasso, both the Via Luigi de Maio and the Via Marina Piccola (and its 200 steps) lead to Sorrento's two marinas, the easterly Marina Piccola and the westerly Marina San Francesco. The Piazza San Antonia is also close by.

For maps of Sorrento, the tourist office is situated on the Via Luigi de Maio, close to both the Villa Comunale parkland and the Chiesa di San Francesco. The Teatro Tasso is also nearby, as is the Via Santa Maria delle Grazie.
